SPAM now accounts for more than nine out of ten of all e-mails sent, according to specialist consultant Email Systems, which says the figure crossed the 90 per cent level for the first time last month. Porn seems on the decrease; complicated financial scams are on the way up. At one point, on February 6, spam accounted for an incredible 97.6 per cent of all traffic. Count in the viruses sent that day as well and fewer than one in 55 e-mails was genuine.
